Monthly Discovery Box Preview

November 2020
Keiryu Daiginjo
This sake has aromas of banana bread with cream cheese. Notes of lime zest and passion fruit. A refreshing & elegant Daiginjo, it is very expressive while being smooth and juicy. This Nagano Daiginjo was a Gold Winner 2018 at the International Wine Challenge.

Yamakawamitsuo 2020 Aki
"Mitsuo is the rodeo in the United States next to India. This is a rodeo bull riding competition, and the higher the cow bounces, the higher the score. It must be a fairly high score to make a toast on a bouncing cow. You may be able to aim for the first victory in your first appearance."

This whimsical sake is a collaboration between 4 famous sake breweries in Yamagata, Kojima Shohonten (Toko), Tatenokawa Shuzo, Otokoyama Sake Brewery & Mitobe Sake Brewery (Yamagata Masamune).

October 2020
Manotsuru Junmai Daiginjo Sado Yamadanishiki
Made from Yamadanishiki grown on Sado Island. Complex, spicy notes with round mouthfeel. Very unique! IWC Gold Medal 2019.

Keiryu Junmai Ginjo
Bright green apple, pear, anise, banana & peach, with hints of citrus and guava. Note of minerality and creamy texture. Long, complex finish. IWC Gold Medal 2016

September 2020
Four Fox Junmai Daiginjo
Hardcrafted in the mountains of Niigata Japan. Each winter, master craftsmen use local source rice and snowmelt water to create a pure, smooth & refreshing Junmai Daiginjo. The stunning bottle also pays homage to the ancient swordsmiths to whom Inari was god, with a katana embossed into the profile of every bottle and is packaged in a gift box.

Dewazakura Tokubetsu Junmai Amabie
Amabie is a legendary sea monster in Japanese folklore. Drawings of it is said to stave off disease. This is a special sake released by Dewazakura to pray that the effects of coronovirus will soon be gone, and return to peaceful days. This sake is refreshing with moderate umami. Great with Ratatouille, seasonal tomatoes and other fresh ingredients.

August 2020
Echizen Misaki Daiginjo "Gin no Shizuku"

Using the best Yamadanishiki from Hyogo, this is the brewery's top sake. It has won gold 10 years at the prestigious Japan New Sake Competition, balancing gorgeous ginjo aroma with soft taste.

Toko Cho Karakuchi Junmai Ginjo
This chokarakuchi (super dry) sake has a beautiful finish that does not conflict with the flavor of your meal and the dryness does not diminish from the umami of this sake.

July 2020
Eikun Junmai Daiginjo Ichigin
Elegant aroma with silky smooth texture. It won a gold medal in the 2019 International Wine Challenge

Kawatsuru Junmai Ginjo Olive Yeast
The Olive fruit is a symbol of Kagawa. It is even used to feed Sanuki Wagyu. This sake is made with yeast isolated from Kagawa Olives.

Senkin Junmai Daiginjo Issei
Part of the Senkin Premium Series, Senkin promises the smooth and beautiful flavours of an ultra polished Junmai Daiginjo with a twist.

W Yamadanishiki Junmai Muroka Nama Genshu

August Discovery Box

Apparently I preferred the Toko Junmai Ginjo Cho Karakuchi from Toko compare to the Echizen Misaki Daiginjo "Gin No Shizuku". Both are pretty smooth to drink. Thank you!

Inter Rice Asia

hahaha, this is the amazing thing about sake. You can appreciate the more expensive bottle, but doesn't mean that that is your preference
