We’ll be having a Blind Tasting for Sake On-nomi #38!
It's been a while since we last held a blind tasting, and one of our breweries, Obata Shuzo, was kind enough to bless us with an exclusive tasting set for this session!
This one-time-only, all-Manotsuru sake Blind Tasting set consists of 5x 180ml bottles (our usual samplings are 70ml).
So, whether you want to indulge in a private tasting or looking to dive deeper into the art of sake, this tasting set is exactly what you need to deepen your knowledge, enjoy your sakes without any bias from the labels and have a great time while doing it!
Founded by Yososaku Obata in 1892, OBATA SHUZO prides itself for using the traditional handmade methods for more than a hundred years, with great appreciation for the abundant nature that surrounds the beautiful island. OBATA SHUZO is located on Sado Island in Niigata.
*Following our shipping policy, there will be an $8 flat delivery for all orders below $250 and we will only send out your Tasting Sets on the day of the event. Read more here.

Fun experience, better in person
It was great to get some insights on the different flavors of the sake and try to determine the differences. Quite enjoyed the choice, selection, quality of the box and the sake. very lovely set with a good variety to get some exposure to different kinds of flavors and a chance to learn how to recognize them It could have been a bit better by letting the audience choose a bit more and determining at the end what was right/wrong rather than fully guided on flavor. The presenter having people in the room with him was also a bit distracting and sometimes made me as a virtual user feel "out of the loop" as there was a lot of chatter in the room. There were efforts made to ask questions to the audience and to acknowledge what was said in chat as well but it could have been a bit more polished in that regard. VC tasting is definitely not as straight forward as a live session would have been where you can draw the audience in a bit better and get higher engagement. All in all, would definitely try another session in the future!
