Sakari is a cheerful and affordable brand, and it is an easy way to experience a modern vertical tasting of Japanese Sake of ascending quality.

It's also under the parent brand, Nihonsakari, which is with one of the world’s biggest Saké breweries and supplier to the Japanese imperial household since 1913. They were selected as the purveyor of Saké for the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Taishō.

This is a cheerful and easy way to taste a vertical flight of sakes from the biggest, and arguable most storied area of Japan. The Nadagogo area is a sake land of firsts. Situated near the old capitals, Nara & Kyoto, it was uniquely situated next to the Seto Inland Sea to ship sake to the new de facto capital, Edo (Modern day Tokyo).

Nadagogo was awarded a Geographical Indication (GI) status in 2018. This is an international place of origin naming system, denoting special quality. It has the most famous water, Miyamizu, which is full of ezymes that creates the masculine sake the area is famous for. 25% of all sakes made in Japan comes from this place.

Hyogo Prefecture is also the home of Yamadanishiki, the king of sake rice. It is also home to one of the 3 major sake guilds, the Tanba Toji.

In this flight of 3 sakes, you are about to taste sakes representative of different eras of brewing in Nadagogo. The first sake is a traditional style that tastes similar to premium sake brewed in the early 1900s. Expect earthy, developed yet smooth flavours. Sake no.2 is a very modern style of sake made with the latest proprietary yeasts. This allows it to develop very prominent tropical fruit aromas. Sake no.3 is a throwback to good sake made in the 1980s. Classically smooth and dry, it has light fruit aromas.
