"Link 8 Barrel Aged Junmai Daiginjo" is a collaboration between Masuda Sake Brewery and Chivas, using Junmai Daiginjo as the base. It is crafted from a blend of sake rice, fermented with various yeasts, and aged for 10 months in Scotch whisky barrels, including those used for aging single malt whisky for over 18 years. The result is a complex sake with aromas of vanilla, figs, milk, and cream, alongside flavors of ripe pears, hazelnuts, walnuts, and chestnuts.
Designed by London-based NUDE, the bottle is made in Venice, with a cork from northern Italy symbolizing barrel aging. The packaging features the number "8," reflecting Japanese Zen garden waves and Scottish ornaments, as well as the 8,888-kilometer distance between Strathisla Distillery (Chivas) and Masuda Brewery.
