Although dry, it still has a refreshing finish that makes you feel the softness of the rice. You can get notes of unripen fruits, and rice bran on the nose, with black pepper and other spice on the mouth. This is one of driest japanese sakes in Japan with a SMV of +16. Goes very well with Sushi and Sashimi.

Manotsuru Junmai Cho Karakuchi

Rice - Gohyakumangoku五百万石 Prefecture - Niigata 新澙市 Color - Light Green Aroma - Vanilla, , Steam , soy sauce Taste - Medium Umami - Medium First impression - Crisp Body - Medium Sweetness - Dry Tail/length - Medium Overall - This is made from Gohyakumangoku and helmed from Niigata prefecture which is the home of Gohyakumangoku. As this is a Cho Karakuchi Junmai, the alcohol and steam rice aroma is very distinctive. Having a hint of soya sauce fragrance also makes it medium umami. The medium length and body makes it a well balanced sake. I had it chilled at 13 and pairing it with a nice piece of home cooked tenderloin with mash and vegetables. The enhances the flavor of the meat which was only lightly seasoned with and pepper. Next time I will try having the warm to taste the difference. Overall this is considered as a good

Nice sake

Brought this to a teppanyaki party and everyone enjoyed it. It went well with the food, be it chicken, pork, fried vegetables etc.
