Only available once a year, the Juyondai Genshu Funatare Orikarami Junmai Ginjo is a distinctive sake variety in that many drinkers for this sake have likened it to other international wines, particularly the taste and how it goes down. As with most sake varieties classified as junmai ginjo, this sake was made with a combination of Yamadanishiki rice and Omachi rice that were both polished up to 5%, giving access to the starchier interior for the distinct flavour. It is undiluted, giving it a more full-bodied flavour, and a stronger alcohol content, rated at 17 percent. This sake, however, is also only seasonally made, and as such, demand for it fluctuates.
"The mouthfeel is beautiful, and it disappears from the mouth without being caught at all. It doesn't feel like it's going down your throat at all, it just disappears from your mouth before you know it. Was it really there? "
Hint of banana and smooth texture on the palate. Aroma is sweet and fruity with a hint of lychee. Pronounced tartness balanced by a sweet hint at the start. A bit of a divergence from the traditional taste of sake. High acidity, easy to enjoy.
